Xi'An Cuisine & Bar, 120 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA
Housed in a historic building on Chestnut Street in Old City Philadelphia, this tri-level Xi’an-themed bar and restaurant fuses architectural symbols of northern China with a chic contemporary palette. In the first floor lounge, a supersize white marble bar stretches the entire length of the space, while LED lighting animates a meticulously crafted wood screen underneath. Second floor dining area features luminous mirrors that contrast the pre-exiting industrial brick walls and create a playful twist in an otherwise long and narrow space. The use of terracotta soldiers from Xi’an as a leitmotif creates an exuberant, museum-like environment that serves up rich visual fare that befits the very origin of the popular cuisine.
